In the beginning, the mortal souls of men drifted Through fog and light and shadow, And they were the Sleepers. Only in the darkness did their eyes ever open, And only then for a moment. And this is as it was. This is as it was, until came the One, Our Father, Scarabaeus. Father who was of intrigue. Father who mastered His craft. Father who was born onto death. Father who ascended. Father who was forever damned with the Vision of sight, And now guides us in truth. For the passing of an age He stood, In the shadows of Asgaard. For an eon He remained alone, Watching the Sleepers, And those who struggled to wake. And so He returned to the world of mortals, And held aloft the Ruby Scarab, And the Sleepers of the Unfettered Darkness Awoke. And as He looked upon the waking babes, He revealed onto them Truth, And from within His shadowy hall He hissed, "Awake, my children, for you have slept too long. Your Day of Reckoning has arrived!" And into his robes of shadow, He huddled His disciples together, And spoke His precepts. And of Purity, He said, "The Pure shall see truth, Unblinded by illusions or lies. They shall recognize the nature Of all men, and embrace it. They shall defy the profane Who seek to quell the Needs and desires of all men. The Pure shall embrace the Will, and hold on to it with Strength of temper and promise, Untainted by the morality and Blindness of men." And of Destruction, He said, "The Destructive shall seek the profane, Seek out the weak of spirit, Seek out the weak of mind. These shall be cut From the body of mankind, Lest their taint spread like cancer, And defile the Pure. Destroy they shall, in the fulfillment Of their own Will, but not By the will of others, Lest they too fall prey To the fog of illusion." And of the Profane, He said, "The profane are blinded by The fog of illusion That descends upon the weak, Who use morality like Blinders to keep them from Seeing themselves. We must burn away that fog, To keep the profane from Enslaving the world." And of War, He said, "You shall oppose the profane Above all other things, And you shall oppose the Maran, Above all the profane, For they are the soldiers Of the profane." And of Loyalty, He said, "You shall serve the Cult And your Father Above all things, You shall make no allegiances To the nations of men Without my Blessing." And of Betrayal, He said, "Those who betray me shall Know no mercy. To betray the enlightenment Is the greatest of sins. Redemption shall be found Only in suffering, And the unredeemed Shall suffer a fate Worse than that Of the profane." And with His words, He Looked upon His disciples, And placed upon their flesh The mark of the Ruby Scarab, That pulsed with their Own lifebeats." And when He was done, One knelt before Him and said, "Father, I wish to spread your Truth to the Sleepers who are not yet profane. Let me speak Your words as you have Spoken them to us." And the Father said, "So be it, you shall be my voice." And so came Mierin, the First Voice of Father. And when that was said, Another came to him and said, "Father, I wish to spread your Wrath to the profane who can't Be woken. Let me sever Them from life, As you have taught us." And the Father said, "So be it, you shall be my instrument of wrath." And so came Thraxil, the First Flame of Father. And when that was said, A third came to him knelt before Him And said nothing, but only Gazed into the eyeless gaze of Father. And the Father nodded. And so came Jreasuraen, the First Eye of Father. And Father brought forth From the shadows Three symbols; The Voice, the Flame, and the Eye And onto the others He said, "They are my high servants, The Trinity of Shadow. Heed them as you would Heed me." And when that was said, Father slipped into The cold, hard earth. And the Cult was born. |
